March onwards, the entire world has witnessed an unusual situation with a global health crisis, which has had a deep impact on the entire world and eaveryone's lives. Situation has been similar in India. All the community outreach activities came to a halt and suddenly there has been a change in the way our hospital works.
For many weeks together, we attended only to eye emergencies in the hospital, discontinued all outreach activities. Now since last fortnight, gradually the patient volumes are increasing the hospital.
However, during the lockdown our organization thought of responding to the COVID-19 pandemic in our own limited capacity. Hence, some of our project regions were identified, a list of all the economical weaker familes were enlisted and a plan to address their empowerment was made. These were the fammilies with least access to hygeine kits and hardly any awareness on how to use them. Our Field workers worked relentlessly in the scroching heat and went door to door to provide hygeine kits with hand washes, sanitizers, masks, disinfectants and awarenesss leaflets. they reached to almost 700 families covering 3400 people in remote rural and tribal regions.
This project helped us to empower the local communities to deal with the current outbreak of covid.
