Hundreds of thousands of high school students in Kenya are not in school due to lack of school fees. KEF gives these students a chance to stay in school by providing 4-year full scholarships based on need and merit. Each year we get over 4,000 scholarship applications from students in financially disadvantaged backgrounds. We are only able to assist about 2 percent of this number. With your investment, we are able to support more students who need our aid and change their worlds for good.
High school is not free in Kenya. 50% of students are not able to stay in school due to lack of funds. They end up dropping out of school, getting married off early, engaging in crime and drug abuse and if they are lucky, they end up in a local high school where the quality of education is very low.
KEF is on a mission to give these scholars quality high school education. They get scholarships based on need and merit and the scholarships are distributed evenly between boys and girls. In addition to that, KEF empowers scholars by equipping them with life-skills, career guidance and entrepreneurial skills. These make sure they grow up to be all-rounded individuals who will make a change in their communities and break the poverty cycle.
Over the years, KEF has done this for over 3000 students. Most of them have gone on to university and college while others have started their business ventures. We have already produced engineers, doctors, nurses, lawyers, accountants, teachers, etc. They are doing so well they have even come back to support the organization. This year they are sponsoring one scholar. We are changing families and communities in Kenya, one scholar at a time!
