The current inter-communal conflict in Rumbek has led to harsh living conditions, protection crisis, limited support of women rights and absence of child protection. The project is targeting 1,200 beneficiaries (84% women/girls). Women and Children at greater risk will be the focus of life-saving interventions. The Key activities are child protection & GBV Case Management and prevention programming among the target beneficiaries.
Women and children face protection risks, including sexual violence and early marriage in South Sudan due to the ongoing Inter-communal conflict and traumas from the previous civil war. No timely life-saving interventions for GBV survivors including women, and survivors of sexual violence. Young girls are seen as the source of wealth resulting into force marriages. 1 in every 100 girls will go to school in Rumbek. 10% completes secondary school. 4 out of 5 women have been victims of GBV.
The project will ensure a timely interventions by providing life-saving protection support to 1, 200 beneficiaries (women, girls & children) with at least 500 GBV survivors case management and 700 beneficiaries of awareness activities intended to strengthen prevention programming. The proposed activities will target the most vulnerable people in need of live saving intervention, including women, teenage mothers and survivors of sexual violence.
Life-saving response to the protection needs of GBV survivors, children and other vulnerable people. The lack of awareness to protect girls from early or force marriages will be reduce. At least 1, 200 beneficiaries who are mostly women, girls, children and the disable will be positively impacted through provision of child protection, GBV survivors case management and awareness of the community.
