This project will raise the funds to provide a full scholarships for a social leader with limited means, like Marie or Sachin (see photos). They will join the Perennial Fellowship, a two-week transformative leadership program in Seattle, Washington, USA. Perennial consciously designs and facilitates experiences for social leaders to help them thrive as lifelong leaders. We understand that if leaders are to sustain their work, they must know how to live a balanced, aligned and grounded life.
A social leader's outer impact is a reflection of their inner landscape. Whether positive or negative, it is in their nature to have an impact on others. We have learned that if social leaders are not able to sustain themselves as leaders, even the best laid plans and most brilliant technical interventions will fail to have a positive social impact. The work of helping social leaders reawaken is therefore not a luxury. It is an essential, vital strategy in advancing social change.
While Perennial's approach draws upon some of the most useful aspects of traditional leadership training, such as building technical skills and developing relationships, we nurture our participants' growth as leaders more by focusing on their inner lives. Perennial guides leaders to name, articulate, and reframe their realities, which gives life to a powerful and life-changing new awareness. This generative force produces leaders who are inspired and reconnected to what matters.
Our fellows emerge from our work together inspired and reconnected to what matters. They understand how to pace themselves, how to avoid burnout, how to find equilibrium. This then enables them to continue the hard work of fighting for justice, transforming cultural norms, and serving the needs of the many-with energy and joy, perennially. Our participants find greater purpose in their lives, clarity and skill in the work they lead, and connection to the communities they serve.
