Pursuing our goals with the safety of our Smiles Forever clinic family & clients paramount
During the last weeks, Bolivia, the country that hosts our operational programs known to you as (the Smiles Forever community dental clinic, the silver diamine fluoride application program (SDF) and others), have been in peril. This is because the country of Bolivia, unfortunately, has been experiencing protests of all kinds after presidential elections were declared invalid by international organizations. This in turn led to the resignation of the president, vice president and other members of his cabinet.
The levels of violence and insecurity caused by those who were in favor and those who were against, did not allow us to provide our services with the continuity that always characterized us. To ensure the safety of children and our own work team, we have temporarily suspended most activities, except attending to emergencies.
Smiles Forever is not an organization with any type of political or religious affiliation. We stay out of any situation, opinion or activity of that kind, always keeping the margin of respect for those who are actors or activists in those fields.
Our goal is and will always be helping children, and to be able to provide quality dental care free to those who need it. That stated, many factors have kept us away from daily work for a few weeks. We will hopefully soon resume our activities with the highest of commitments towards them, and little by little we are already re-routing our calendar in order to reach all our beneficiaries.
Smiles Forever Welcomes CUBE, Breeze of Hope Center as a Beneficiary of Dental Services
Likewise, even among all the problems that surround us, a new organization joins the already 42 beneficiary organizations of the Smiles Forever Foundation. CUBE (Centro Una Briza de Esperanza / a breeze of hope center), which is focused on providing legal, psychological and social assistance to minors victims of sexual and physical abuse is a very worthy group we will be honored to help.
During the time that remains in this year 2019, we want to sincerely thank all our volunteers, supporters, donors and anyone who has and pursues the same dreams as us ... dreams of equality, education and health for those children who do not have that privilege, Smiles Forever will continue to fulfill that dream for as long as necessary.
Peace, love and equality for all Bolivians
