Reproductive choice and access to healthcare is under attack across the United States. Seeding Sovereignty knows that BIPOC and gender expansive community members seeking abortions will be hardest hit. Our new grassroots Abortion Doula Training Program provides essential skills, healing care, critical funds and networks for people to support themselves and their community during an abortion. We believe that all people should have access and tools as compassionate informed abortion companions.
Body sovereignty is under attack in a political climate increasingly hostile to choice. Access to safe abortions is being prevented. Abortion care providers are increasingly unsafe, underfunded and under legal attack. Meanwhile, physical harms to gender expansive community members are increasing and intensifying. Community members are in hard economic times. Help is needed now to stop the injustice and violence BIPOC and gender nonconforming people face from oppressive systems around choice.
We provide abortion doula trainings online and offline that teach skills to support abortion seeking people and educate on abortion laws. We host healing community events to counter ongoing attacks on body sovereignty. We build with and seed local abortion doula collectives that will provide local, sustained community based abortion care. We fund abortion providers serving BIPOC and gender expansive community members and we nurture a culture of abortion care and respect for body autonomy.
We support the movement for reproductive justice through grassroots partnerships and will normalize the dialogue surrounding abortion as health care. Together we can heal from traumas that impact the individual and generations, and connect over shared politics and needs. By bolstering the right to choice, teaching skills, and building networks of care for and with others, we can grow more empowered movement spaces and networks of people who will advocate for linked causes needed in these times.
