Dear friends,
We are so excited to share the completion of another wonderful project in Uganda! Thanks to your support, we have planted and distributed over 25,000 fruit trees to schools, health centers, and families throughout the Busoga Kingdom of southern Uganda. As one project participant said of the importance of the program:
“When you have an orchard in a community, it becomes very simple to provide things like fruits to the families and the children at school because before the orchard was set up here, we were buying bags and bags of mangos. We used to go to the market, sometimes you could reach the market and find there were no mangoes. But right now, when the orchard is right in our vicinity, it is just a matter of caring for it and then, when the fruits are in season, we harvest and we enjoy!”
Uganda is facing severe effects of climate change, the pandemic, and increasing fuel and food prices. Fruit trees provide a buffer against such catastrophes in the future, by providing income, shade, sun protection, soil stabilization, flood and erosion mitigation, carbon sequestation and, of course, fresh nutrition and food. If you are able, please consider donating today so we can ensure a more stable and healthy future for Ugandan families through the planting of thousands of more fruit trees in communities that need them most.
