This project will secure for 52 victims of human trafficking safe accommodation, as well as medical, psychological and legal assistance, family counseling, assistance informal/alternative education and support in job placement throughout the whole territory of Serbia to their full recovery and reintegration. Over 90% of identified victims of trafficking in Serbia are women and girls. Every second identified victim of human trafficking in Serbia is a child.
NGO Atina's reintegration program and shelter for women and children is the only safe place and long-term assistance that exists for victims of human trafficking in Serbia. Majority of identified victims is referred to our program by state social services and the police, but without state allocation of funds for the service. This can't be obstacle on the way towards achieving the sustainability of the reintegration assistance or reaching more women and children in need of protection.
With these funds, women and children, survivors of trafficking in Serbia, will receive provision of long-term assistance in fulfilling basic needs (including safe accommodation), obtaining personal documents, psychosocial, legal and medical assistance, support in learning and economic empowerment assistance. Comprehensive and long-term support to reach their own potential is the only guarantee of their complete integration and decrease of the risk of re-victimization and marginalization.
With this project, victims of human trafficking in Serbia will get much needed support to recover, gain lost self-confidence and reclaim control of their lives. In addition, more women and children, survivors of trafficking will be reached and empowered through these services.
