This project will establish a library that will help 70% of vulnerable Barlastone youths who are studying in various institutions at different levels that do not have enough physical libraries as well as E-libraries. Friends At Heart Foundation Zambia want to establish a community library that will service as a skills and development center for vulnerable youths by supplying books and computers. Therefore, this project will reduce on illiteracy levels in Barlastone community.
Youths the community of Barlastone are faced with a challenge of accessing books for reading and studying. Many schools that are within and surround Barlastone community lack libraries and computer labs, hence affecting 80% of students who are doing tertiary education. The ratio of books in a particular school too less equal to the number of students and pupils. In addition, poverty is very high such that almost 75% of the vulnerable youths cannot afford buying a small booklet for themselves.
This project will provide library facility, books and computers for accessing e-library. The project will help vulnerable to have a place where they can study effectively and conduct their academic researches and equip themselves with modern resourceful information and knowledge.
The project will impact the community as a resource center where community member can nourish themselves with knowledge and skills. The project will impact the community in such way that community members will increase their reading habits as well as improved and increased literacy levels. The community members and the surrounding institutions will learn and understand the importance resourceful facilities of such for the community and society at large.
