This project will provide absolutely free quality dental care and education to over 5000 children in extreme poverty whose caregivers have to choose between food and dental care, with a particular focus in Kisumu County.
Millions of African children have never had any dental care and don't even own a toothbrush! tooth decay is the single most chronic condition-affecting children today, especially with 60-90% of school children having dental cavities or decaying teeth. With fewer than 1,000 dentists serving the 44 million people of Kenya, this is an important medical issue that needs attention, unfortunately, it's always been neglected. This project will support more than 4000 children get free dental care.
Resurge Children East Africa provides thousands of toothbrushes, educational materials, and dental supplies to children in extreme poverty to aid in making dental hygiene a part of daily life. The project also provides free treatment to children living with terrible pain where poverty and suffering are extreme, and where dental care is simply not available or affordable.
The trained dental professionals will provide the opportunity to prevent and treat children. By training local dentists properly and providing them with a high standard of equipment and supplies, we aim to create a local industry that will serve the needs of the local population on a permanent basis. Locals serving locals in local facilities and communities is our vision for a sustainable solution to the Kisumu County dental crisis.
