This programme will provide quality and critical antenatal care services to a thousand pregnant women from low income households living in underserved communities in Western Nigeria for one year. Young girls of reproductive age and babies will also receive free healthcare services.
Nigeria has one of the world's highest maternal, infant, and child mortality and morbidity rates. Young girls, women, and infants are vulnerable to health crises in urban poor and underdeveloped communities with little to no access to quality health care including low access to proper testing, counseling, ultrasound, HIV testing, tetanus immunization, and fetal growth & measurement. The uncertainties that come with the unknown of what is happening to the fetus in the womb are terrifying.
The programmes help pregnant women and girls access quality healthcare through our free monthly maternal & child health outreaches: which comprises routine antenatal clinics & health education. It provides women, girls, and babies with the necessary support, information, quality health services, & support. They are enlightened on the importance of taking their antenatal drugs, preparing for labor,, & seeking medical facilities for birth. Through sex education, they learn about family planning
The long term impact we have witnessed since we launched in 2016 is increase in health seeking behaviors in pregnant women in these underserved communities compared to when we started out. More so, improvements in pregnancy and birth experiences as more women are able to freely access the right knowledge, and quality healthcare services for free. Thereby leading to an increased survival rate of mothers and babies ..
