2013 Highlights

Nairobi slum where new CFW clinic will be located

Our CFW franchise network in Kenya is poised to have served more than 500,000 people in 2013 (approximately half in store and half through outreach events), which is more than in any year since 2009. This is very good news towards achieving our mission. Other encouraging figures, based on annualizing YTD 2013 (Jan-Nov) results:

Sales to CFW franchisees: +56% v. 2011 and +4% v. 2012.
Sales by CFW franchisees: +37% v. 2011 and +5% v. 2012.
Franchisor spending in Kenya: -18% v. 2011 and -4% v. 2012.
Test clinic sales and profitability: We opened two special clinics in 2012 to test some new ideas. Monthly sales of these two clinics are 2.4x and 4x the average sales reported by clinics in our network. One of the test clinics is profitable, one is not.

Alongside this 2012-2013 progress, we have exciting plans for 2014, including opening more clinics, improving the data we collect, and continuing the iterative subsidy tests we have been conducting to learn more about our patients and learn how to attract even lower-income patients to our CFW clinics, which are already serving households surviving on only $1-$5 per day!
