New CFW clinics opened in Mwea and Ugunja

CFW--new clinic in Ugunja

At the end of February 2012, we opened two new CFW clinics in Kenya: one in Mwea (Central Kenya), and another in Ugunja (Western Kenya). These new CFW clinics are designed to include several new components which we are evaluating for possible inclusion in future CFW clinics:

Locating the clinics in more densely populated low-income areas
Enhancing diagnostics by including a low-level laboratory inside each clinic
Enabling the CFW nurse to administer vaccinations as part of the Kenyan government’s vaccination program
Improving CFW signage and local marketing.

The grand openings of these two new CFW clinics were very successful. Local people came to tour the new CFW clinics, to meet the clinics' staff, and to see public-health-oriented dramas enacted outside the clinics. In this update to the GlobalGiving community, we've included some photos from the grand opening of the CFW clinic in Ugunja.
