Funding will help restore makeshift classrooms for developmental disabled children residing in the slums/remote villages: repaint, replace chipped desk/chairs, rusted/broken playground equipment, upgrade metal roof. Current enrollment is 33 children in trailers ages 5-17 years w/waitlist of ~20 more Special Needs. Funding will provide amenities, safe environment for their continued education, rehabilitation & total development: promote well-being, self-sufficiency & mentor all attendees.
There is lack of educational facilities for challenged, special needs children and adults in Vadodara. This project addresses primarily autistic, down syndrome & ADHD children so their parents can continue to work, sustain their livelihood while their children are being cared for, mentored and educated in a special school/group environment.
Currently with less educational amenities, puzzles and lack of technology, there is lack of motivation and children participation. Also due to dilapidated situations, parents are less inclined to send them to school. The project will provide colorful, safe, motivational zone for all attendees with new equipment and classroom accessories - an enticement for parents to participate in their child activities, children will get less sick and be encouraged to engage in more activities happily.
Attendees, teachers & parents will be healthier, happier and more self-sufficient with upgraded and restored trailers that serves as classrooms. This project will help restore parents faith of their child's improvement/success. Parents will more likely participate in their child progress which currently is lacking. The updates will increase enrollment, continue to provide free tuition, physical therapy & education/mentoring from Monday-Friday for special needs residing in remote/slum areas.
