The heavy rainfall in the second week of July this year caused devastating floods and landslides across Nepal. Floods completely paralyzed normal life of thousands of people and left many of them homeless and killed 78 people. Floods in this season and many cases of causalities has become like a regular thing every year. JWAS with this fund is working to mitigate the sufferings through immediate & long term support to the affected families mostly women and children.
Thousands of people displaced from their homes due to the heavy rainfalls, floods and landslides during the 11-15 July, 2019. That was heavy rainfalls and the lakes and rivers breached and flooded the habitations in mid and southern part of Nepal. Low land of these areas remained under water with no electricity, communication and transportation system for several days. They need relief supports to survive, to regroup their energies and to re-build the damaged houses and come into the life again.
This fund as an immediate relief & support is helping the victims to get the food supplies, clothes, Toiletries, Mats, bed sheets, pillow, Basic medicinal kit etc. After immediate relief & support phase, this fund will work on long-term recovery support including flood resilient community facilities in the disaster prone areas of Nepal.
In the long run this fund will support flood victims to fight against the scenario created by the floods every year. With the support from this fund sustainable livelihood and disaster risk reduction interventions will take place for the communities and the families and build their capacity to response the disaster like this in the future. We will post reports regularly on how the funds have been used and email these reports directly to every donors supporting this cause.
