As the years have gone by, doesn't it seem that time passes much more quickly? Yet, I'm still surprised when the summer ends and we begin to think of the holiday season.
As I was walking through our warehouse yesterday, our shelves were bare in several places, but not as bare as in years past. You see, the summer puts a strain on our pantry. Mothers, who have been able to count on the subsidized school lunch programs for their children, now need to cover this at home. Burbank Temporary Aid Center sees a marked increase of need during the summer months. Sometimes, by the end of the year, our food stock is almost depleted. But this year, it wasn't.
Because of friends like you, BTAC was able to keep up with the need for food during the lean summer months. Local grocers made donations, churches collected canned goods, and where we did run short, your donation allowed us to purchase those things we needed.
I hope you feel good, knowing you were able to help us maintain our food supply and keep families from going hungry!
Although our shelves are now a bit bare, we know that as the holidays approach, you and many of our other friends will remember the continuing need and make certain BTAC has the food, (especially the holiday food) necessary to ensure the holidays are filled with warmth, family and wonderful, traditional meals.
Thanks again for your support. It is appreciated and we do not take it for granted.
