The past few months have been a flurry of activity at Burbank Temporary Aid Center. In addition to the 'regular' food we distribute, we also gave out holiday foods for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.
But holiday foods can be expensive - especially when you are buying and distributing over 1,000 turkeys between the two holidays! Some years we have actually run short. But this year, with the funds donated through GlobalGiving and other donations, there were plenty of turkeys to go around.
Holiday traditions are important in every family, especially during the holidays. The smells of the meal as it cooks, as well as the food and family help make and remember happy memories. By providing all of the fixin's for a traditional holiday meal, families don't have to rely on soup kitchens for thier holiday meal. They can continue creating their own family traditions.
As we come to the close of 2014, I am grateful for your support, which has allowed BTAC to help those in need.
Thank you, and Happy New Year!
