Although Halloween is still several weeks away, at Burbank Temporary Aid Center (BTAC), we are already planning for the holidays. This is the time of year BTAC begins organizing holiday foods for low-income families.
This time of year is tough for families. There are so many expectations around the holidays, and when you are struggling to make ends meet, those expectations become frustrations. So, BTAC puts together all the groceries for a traditional Thanksgiving Holiday meal for each family to take home and create or continue thier family traditions.
Then, we do it all over again in December!
Between the two holidays, BTAC will go through approximately 1,000 turkeys, hams and roast beef. Although many members of our community will donate them, BTAC usually needs to purchase about 250 more, to ensure we can meet the need.
That's where your help makes such a difference. Turkeys, etc. are expensive items. But with your support, we are able to make sure there are plenty to go around.
Thank you for your past support. I hope you will continue that support this upcoming holiday season. And perhaps encourage friends or family to join you in creating wonderful holidays for hundreds of families.
