The vulnerable aged people need our love and support. This project will help support the aged with shelter, meals, medical care and psychosocial counselling. We shall provide nutritious food to destitute elderly people in Solwezi and Kitwe Districts of Zambia. Many families in Zambia abandon the aged family members either on suspicion of practicing witch-craft or due to poverty. They leave them homeless with no adequate care and support which force them to go on the streets to berg for food
The aged persons are suffering with lack of shelter, starvation, ill-health in the selected project areas. Zambia's National Policy on Ageing defines an older person as one aged 60 years or order. There are a number of challenges facing the elderly in Zambia which include social exclusion. Some suffer from isolation due to stigma. In some rural communities, elderly people are suspected of practicing witchcraft and poverty is also highly pronounced among them.
This project will solve the problem by providing nutritious meals and medical care to 500 elderly people. We provide different assorted nutritious foods. The health conditions of vulnerable aged people has been improved with our support. We will also provide clothing & blankets to the vulnerable aged people in three Districts of Zambia namely: Kalumbila, Solwezi and Kitwe.
ACSJ will help reduce starvation among the vulnerable elderly people in the above three Districts of Zambia . 500 vulnerable aged people would get timely nutritious food, medical care and psychosocial support. The living conditions and life span of supported aged people will increase. 500 aged persons would be able to eat nutritious food and receive medicines in time without depending on street support. The perception of the community on caring old age people will drastically improve.
