The "Food Aid Support for Butebo" project addresses the urgent food insecurity in Butebo District, Uganda. Frequent droughts and poor harvests leave many families, including widows, orphans, and the elderly, with only one meal a day. This project will provide essential food supplies such as grains, beans, and cooking oil to these vulnerable groups. By ensuring access to nutritious food, the project will improve health and well-being, while supporting efforts toward long-term food security.
In Butebo District, Uganda, there is insecurity to severe food caused by frequent droughts and poor harvests. Many families, including widows, orphans, and the elderly, are left with only one meal per day. With 88.3% of households dependent on subsistence farming and limited access to markets due to poor infrastructure, food shortages are a recurring issue. These challenges result in widespread malnutrition, poor health, and increased vulnerability among the community's most at-risk populations.
We provide immediate food aid to the most vulnerable populations in Butebo District, including widows, orphans, and the elderly. Also distribute essential food supplies such as grains, beans, and cooking oil to families struggling with hunger due to frequent droughts and poor harvests. By addressing their immediate nutritional needs, the project will improve health outcomes, reduce malnutrition, and provide temporary relief while laying the groundwork for longer-term food security initiatives.
The long-term impact is going to significantly benefit Butebo District by reducing malnutrition and improving the health of vulnerable groups like widows, orphans, and the elderly. By addressing immediate hunger, the project will enable families to focus on education and income-generating activities. This stability will foster community resilience, contributing to sustainable food security in the future. Also, the initiative will enhance livelihoods, reduce poverty, and create lasting change.
