2011 saw hundreds killed in severe flooding. With the death toll from nationwide flooding climbing to 300 over the weekend and lengthy sections of banks along the Mekong, Tonle Sap and Bassac rivers at risk of collapse, the government was urged yesterday to call for international assistance in order to prevent a humanitarian crisis. Please support MaD Cambodia to help provide what assistance we can to victims of these flash floods who have lost their homes, their crops and their livelihoods.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

2011 saw the worst floods in Cambodia which claimed the lives of hundreds. The rains have come early and huge storms have already been experienced out of the normal season. We want to be prepared this year for any potential flooding and have reserves to immediately handle such a crisis. MaD Flood Aid will be a strategic fund with emergency supplies and materials ready to deploy in the event of sever flooding.

How will this project solve this problem?

MaD Flood Aid is being set up as a result of the devastation experienced in 2011 as a Disaster Reflief/Flood Aid measure - ready to deploy with such items as: Clothing, blankets, food repair materials for homes, animal sheds, tracks and roads are sorely needed to help flood victims. Being prepared is being ready to handle and deal with such a situation!

Potential Long Term Impact

MaD's work intends to provide both short term relief and long-term support to families so that they can rebuild their lives. We simply wish to restore a basic level of life to the community who are so hard hit by environmental disasters such as these.
