Anania Shirakatsy Lyceum is constructing a multi-functional complex Sports Hall to provide Physical Education classes for 800 students. In addition to this, 250 poor students from the nearby 3 rural communities can take part in different sports activities free of charge. There is a lack of financial resources to complete all the relevant infrastructures and launch the program. We aim to raise 34,900$ for reconstructing 220 sq/m bathrooms and changing rooms to provide essential facilities.
For many years, sports and education have been considered to be on opposite poles: sport is less important while education is very serious. Due to this stereotype, physical education has often been given a low status and limited curriculum hours in the Armenian educational system. Yet, in the modern world being knowledgeable and skillful is not enough. The increasing amount of anxiety and stresses among all the people, particularly among teenagers, is a growing challenge for healthy lifestyle.
The Lyceum is constructing the Sports Hall to provide essential infrastructures and complex physical education in various sports and games. Yet, there is a lack of resources to finish all necessary infrastructures. We aim to raise 34,900$ for the reconstruction and renovation of bathrooms and changing rooms occupying 220 sq/m.This project will support the Lyceum to launch its Sports Hall in spring 2020 with its relevant capacities enhancing physical education and healthy life for its students.
Sport has a huge impact on the quality of education: it makes the brain work better, improves memory, concentration or focusing. So,800 Lyceum students will benefit directly from this project. 250 poor students from neighboring areas will attend the Sports Hall free of charge. As well as, we seek to enhance Futsal in Armenia by organizing free courses to involve urban and rural students. Holding competitions will develop the concept of Futsal in our country and disseminate this sport type here.
