Updates from the Field

A. Maternal and Child Nutrition Program:
1. Birthing clinic at JADMC
- we started officially last friday with pre natal schedules done three times a week;
- Arellano University will help us with technical support and volunteers. They are now finalizing the writing of the operations manuals;
- the Rodriquez district hospital will be the referral hospital for complicated births; the protocols for this are also being finalized ;
2. Satellite Birthing clinics;
- the donation of the PLDT Smart Foundation of p1.5 million was released to fund the establishment and expansion of another set of 6 satellite clinics in bulacan
- the DOH issued a new order re the new specifications for licensing;
- KDF is now hiring a part time architect to help with their renovation design;
3. WPFI National Convention:
The KDF Satellite Birthing Clinics will all attend the national convention cum training of the well family midwives partnership foundation (wpfi) on nov 10-12. Preparations for the participation is ongoing;
B. People with Disability (PWD) programs:
1. Seeing Clearly:
- eye screenings every Saturday morning at JADMC continuing. Average of 100 persons come from all over Pampanga and parts of region 3;
- screenings on site are done three times a week. Coordination with local NGOs and local governments done everyday for the scheduling;
- Prescription eye glasses are distributed every week; average of 50 eye glasses a week are distributed;
2. Prosthetics:
- screenings two times a month are done at JADMC with Dr Nepomuceno and Dr Tiangco alternating;
- two additional technicians are now being trained by KDF to become prosthetics technicians;
- regular meetings and follow ups done re PCSO possible funding;
3. Cleft lip/ Palate surgeries:
- pre screening of cleft lip and palate patients done September 9 at JADMC
- to date we have recruited 50 patients ready and prequalified for a possible November mission;
- arrangements are now being made w Operation Smile and with Rodriquez District Hospital for the details of the mission;
C. Livelihood:
- Weekend Market at JADMC continues every Saturday. This is coordinated by the KDF satellite nursery association;
- schedule for 2015 regular livelihood seminars to be held at JADMC are being finalized;
.We hope to do a fund campaign for these programs in 2015;
