This project will raise awareness, respond to concerns and needs of persons affected and infected with cancer and HIV among men, youth, Children and women in Lango, conduct training for medical persons, Screening and linking infected persons for treatment. This project identified and providing palliative care to 20 abandoned vulnerable needy patients suffering from Cancer, Screen and refer 270 men, 350 women, 100 youth and 60 children for cancer care and treatment.
Northern Uganda remains among the most remote and underserved region with limited access to quality Cancer prevention and care services, poor communication, high poverty and illiteracy levels. The majority of men, Women, youth and children are un-aware of cancer and HIV and do-not access prevention, care and treatment seriously. Behemax will increase access to and utilization of Cancer and HIV services, build local capacity, provide Cancer prevention, care and treatment services
Providing Cancer prevention, awareness, screening and linkage for treatment, Counselling and testing, Community social mobilization, Small group intervention, facility based outreaches to provide services; support to health facilities to conduct integrated outreaches, provide palliative care, community linkages to the core services, training of service providers to provide minimum packages, enhancing collaboration and partnership between various stakeholders.
We will create cancer and HIV awareness to 8,000 men, women, youth and children, allowing them to access and utilize prevention, care, treatment and support services. Build capacity of 500 service providers, project staff and Community health workers for effective screening, referrals and management of Cancer . Which will enable effective management and proper diagnosis of cancer, Health workers will acquire other methodology for further comprehensive cancer treatment services.
