Fifty prosthetic limbs for Low Income amputees

Summary

In Bolivia it is EXCEEDINGLY difficult for any low-income amputee to get a prosthetic limb due to the lack of availability and high cost. Our project's goal is to ensure that 50 of low-income amputees will walk again with a "made in Bolivia, By Bolivians" prosthetic leg.

Challenge

There are approximately 10,000 amputees in Bolivia and yet there are close to zero prosthetic clinics for low income amputees, and yet it is the low-income segment of the population which is most likely to have a limb amputated.

Solution

This project will ensure that 50 prosthetic limbs are made and provide to low income amputees, along with sufficient physical therapy so that they can walk again, gain employment again and support their families again.

Long-Term Impact

Working Bolivian amputees will not be a burden on their families and will be able to contribute to their society.
