This project will build a Food Pantry in Bronx NY and at Militar Hospital in Santo Domingo - Dominican Republic, providing free healthy food to 1000 veterans per week, veterans homeless or at risk to become one - individuals or with families - affected with PTSD due to traumas by the war during their services and cannot have a normal life or a job due to this trauma.
Recent figures show that New York State is home to 838,000 veterans and it is one of the four states that accounted for 50% of the nation's homeless veterans facing besides, hunger. Of all the homeless people in the US, 11% have been in the military. In Dominican Republic there are currently more than 100,000 veterans starving and living in extreme poverty, according to the census in 2019, and after COVID-19 this number increased
WVFS provides a daily program of nutritious food and assistance to starving veterans (individuals or with family). Transportation, delivery, and assistance for veterans seniors, or with disabilities. Reduce hunger among veterans homeless
The project will feed 1000 veterans per week allowing them to rise out of hunger, which provide for veterans and their families health and well being
