Feed the minds and bodies of 300 kids in Guatemala

$590 $14,410
Raised Remaining

Through its Feed the Mind & Body program, CasaSito provides opportunities for Guatemalan children living in poverty to obtain an education while also receiving healthy meals every school day.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Guatemala has the highest percentage of chronically malnourished children in Latin America, and the fourth highest in the world. Without proper nutrition children suffer stunted growth, lower IQ scores, and poor school achievement. The malnutrition of today can permanently damage the development of Guatemalan youth of the future. By providing nutrition to children attending our partner educational centers, CasaSito can help improve the children's physical and mental capabilities.

How will this project solve this problem?

CasaSito supports local educational and community centers that offer dynamic educational and vital educational activities to children. In addition, these centers provide healthy snacks and meals Mondays through Fridays. For most of the children the meals they receive at these centers are their only source of important protein, vitamins and nutrients. With proper nutrition these children are able to grow, learn, and develop intellectually.

Potential Long Term Impact

The program will feed 300 children, allowing them to be healthy, alert, learn, and become educated. Healthy, educated children obtain the skills to improve their own lives, and those of their families and their community.
