A third of Sri Lanka's children are malnourished. Our 'Education Without Hunger' is a sustainable food security initiative, currently nourishing 15000 vulnerable children through organic school nutrition gardens/ zero-waste home gardens, sustainable agriculture & environmental education. Your donation doesn't just feed a child for a day- it skills children to grow food, enrich school meals, nourish themselves & their families for life, drive climate action, protect our planet & live with dignity
In Sri Lanka in 2025, 1 in 3 children suffers from malnutrition, poverty has surged to 24.5%, and rising food costs-especially for vegetables and fruits-have left 42% of households (5.3 million people) eating less than three meals a day. With 19 million projected to face hunger by 2050, our Education Without Hunger program, launched in 2022, is a sustainable solution currently nourishing 15,000 children in Jaffna & Puttalam by teaching them to grow food and gain lifelong skills to fight hunger.
Education Without Hunger is a lifeline for vulnerable children facing malnutrition and hunger. By teaching them to grow their own organic food-first in schools, then in their homes-we empower them with lifelong skills to fight hunger. Our freshly harvested produce enriches their school meals, ensuring a nutrition-rich meal on campus and homegrown harvests ensure families move from hunger to food security, allowing children to enjoy three nutritious meals a day and grow up healthy and nourished.
Our project doesn't just feed children, over 5 years it empowers them with lifelong skills in sustainable food production, regenerative agriculture, and climate change mitigation. What begins as a school garden expands into home gardens, evolving into a child-led, community-owned movement for nutrition sufficiency and food security. Schools become living classrooms of sustainability, where learning and nourishment go hand in hand-ensuring future generations experience Education Without Hunger.
