Thousands of families displaced by violence in Okigwe, Imo State, Nigeria, are struggling with hunger, trauma, and loss of livelihoods. Empower Future Initiative (EFI), alongside compassionate humanitarian partners, is providing emergency food packs and relief materials to vulnerable women, children, elderly people, and displaced households. This project will deliver lifesaving food support, restore dignity, and help families survive during this humanitarian crisis.
For years, insecurity and violent attacks in communities across Okigwe have forced families from their homes, destroyed livelihoods, and deepened hunger and poverty. Many displaced households now live in overcrowded conditions without stable income, food, or support. Women, children, widows, and the elderly are among the most affected. Rising food prices and economic hardship have worsened the suffering, leaving many families uncertain about their next meal and vulnerable to malnutrition.
This project will provide emergency food assistance and humanitarian relief to displaced and vulnerable families affected by insecurity in Okigwe. EFI will distribute staple food items, hygiene supplies, and essential household support to families facing severe hardship. Community volunteers will help identify the most vulnerable households, ensuring fair and transparent distribution. The project will also strengthen community solidarity and offer hope to affected families.
To help displaced families in Okigwe recover from the devastating effects of insecurity and rebuild stable, self-reliant lives. Through continued humanitarian support, livelihood empowerment, skills training, psychosocial support, and community recovery programs, EFI aims to reduce hunger, restore dignity, and strengthen resilience among vulnerable households. The project will also promote peace, community stability, and sustainable recovery for families affected by violence and displacement.
