One Acre Fund will provide 500 smallholder farm families in Rwanda with a complete "market bundle"--financing, farm inputs, education, and market access--to help double their farm incomes per acre.
Over 70 percent of Africans are smallholder farmers, yet there is a persistent food crisis affecting sub-Saharan Africa. The time for food handouts is over–the only sustainable path out of this crisis is for African farmers to produce more food. Smallholder farmers in Africa support families of five, on average, and suffer a three-month "hunger season" of meal skipping and meal substitution. This project will help 500 Rwandan farmers double their farm incomes per acre.
One Acre Fund provides smallholder farmers in Kenya and Rwanda with financing, farm inputs, education, and market access. This complete service model makes it possible for any farmer who works hard to achieve a 100% increase in farm income per acre.
The project will help 500 Rwandan farm families double their farm incomes. Our farmers use this extra income to feed their families, pay school fees for their children, care for their families' health, and buy livestock to generate more income.
