The main focus of our organization is to bring orphaned children to families. Within the Stick together project, we have three sections, acting in three Russian cities: Smolensk, Kostroma and Nizhny Novgorod. In "Stick together. Smolensky region" we not only re-establish the kids' links with their blood relatives but also search for and attract new care-givers, and work with kids in preparing them for life in a new family.
Children who are unlucky to get to the orphanage as a temporary measure have a risk to stay there for ages. Orphanage staff is focused on child-rearing rather than working with families, children came from, or with fostering families, children go to.
The main tasks of our team which works at the orphanage are to examine the circumstances under which children get into the orphanage (in order to identify any possibility of returning the child to the family); to organize and supervise meetings for children and parents; to assist parents in restoring parental rights; to consult fostering families. Since 2018, the fund is expending its geography to the city of Demidov.
Our results for 2017 are as follows: 11 children returned back to their families (8 of them - to parents, 3 - to relatives), and 18 cases of re-established relations with the relatives.
