Children  Russia Project #21029

Family to Every Child

by Charity Fund 'Our Children' ('Deti nashi')

The main focus of our organization is to bring orphaned children to families. Within the HOMELIKE project, we not only re-establish the kids' links with their blood relatives but also search for and attract new care-givers, and work with kids in preparing them for life in a new family. Our plan for the next year is as follows: 5 (children to return back to their family), 3 (children to put up for adopting), and 30 (children to re-establish relations with their blood relatives).

Children who are unlucky to get to the orphanage as a temporary measure have a risk to stay there for ages. Orphanage staff is focused on child-rearing rather than working with families, children came from, or with fostering families, children go to.

We hire a team of specialists to work inside orphanage with the following tasks: to examine the circumstances under which children got to the orphanage - so that to define possibilities to let them out; to organize and supervise meetings for children and parents; to assist parents in restoring parental rights; to consult fostering families

Long-Term Impact

These are 2014/2015 results of our work at the orphanage where 60% of children (6-18 y.o.) stay more than for 4 years: seven kids left the orphanage to live with their relatives, four kids were adopted, and 15 more kids are at the process of re-establishing the connection with their blood relatives. Our plan for 2015/2016 is: 5 / 3 / 30 children accordingly.
