NVCSS Disaster Services serves Northern California (Shasta, Tehama, Trinity, Siskiyou, Butte, Lassen, Plumas and Glenn Counties) which is about the size of Ohio. Disaster Services is primarily funded by grants that average 18 months. When our funding ends, it creates instability and a void of support for survivors that are still on their recovery journeys after 18 months. This triggers feelings of abandonment. Gap funding is needed to continue case management and support.
To create stability, the disaster services department is seeking funding for an Annuity that will grow forever. Our goal is a $1,000,000.00 Annuity that will continue to grow over time. Only a percentage of the earned interest and dividend income will be granted to the disaster services department annually: 10% reinvested back into the annuity to allow it to grow, 75% granted to the NVCSS Disaster Services Department and 15% to NVCSS corporate to have the annuity funded and managed.
The annuity will continue to grow past the campaign (10% of interest and dividend will be added back into the annuity to allow to grow). Future campaigns will also add to the annuity. It will become an eternal funding source that never dies. It will bring much needed stability to the funding of the Disaster Services Department which empowers us to fund the gap between disaster grants. This enables to continue disaster case management to the survivors.
