Dear Friends and Project Supporters,

Educación 2020 is closing this Project in order to focus on it’s new project, Improved Education for Chile's Vulnerable Students” (#22187).

From all of us at Educación 2020, and all the students and teachers who benefitted from this project, we want to thank you for your collaboration!

Highlights of this project include supporting the implementation of an innovative educational model called Tutorial Networks (“Redes de Tutoría”) in seven vulnerable schools in the Araucanía region. In a September 2015 report, UNICEF included Tutorial Relationships among the 4 learning models that have changed the learning paradigm in Latin America. The model comes to life through a one-on-one “tutorial relationship,” in which a tutor guides a student through her own process of learning through reflections and questions. Students themselves then become the tutors and the knowledge transfer continues. This method emphasizes the development of autonomous learning skills, and evaluations show that students who learn via the Tutorial Relationships model build self-confidence and significantly improve academic performance. This model has been successfully implemented in thousands of schools in Singapore, Thailand, Mexico, and San Diego, and is now enriching vulnerable classrooms in Chile through the efforts of donors like you!

Another highlight of this Global Giving project was its support for efforts to improve Chile’s  technical education system. At present, Chile’s technical schools have the highest percentage of vulnerable students, the poorest academic quality of all post- secondary education programs, and no organized student government groups. In addition, technical  education programs  are  not  aligned  with  current  private  sector  demands.  To address  these  deficiencies,  Educación 2020’s Communications Team launched a national awareness  campaigns  in 2015  called “Mejora La Técnica” (“Improve Technical Education.”) The campaign includes social media, videos, print materials,  infographics,  and  interactive web  platforms  that  encourage critical  debate  from a diverse  group of citizens. They also  create  a space  for citizens  to  share  ideas, opinions, and  proposals  related  to  Chile’s technical  education system.

While this Project has come to a close, we hope that you will check out our new GlobalGiving Project,Improved Education for Chile's Vulnerable Students” (#22187).This project will help us to improve learning outcomes for 4,000 vulnerable students in Chile’s poorest regions.

Thank you again for your generous support, and we hope you’ll visit our GlobalGiving page again!

Dear Friends and Project Supporters,

We are excited to share with you the recent launch of an internationally recognized educational innovation known as “Tutorial Relationships.” Tutorial Relationships is an alternative learning method that emphasizes the development of autonomous learning skills. It comes to life through the one-on-one “tutorial relationship,” in which a tutor guides a student through his or her own process of learning through reflections and questions. Students themselves then become the tutors and the knowledge transfer continues.

In a September 2015 report, UNICEF includes Tutorial Networks among four innovative learning models that have changed education paradigms in the region. Evaluations show that students who learn via the Tutorial Relationships model build self-confidence and significantly improve academic performance. Dropout rates also fall dramatically.

The Tutorial Networks model has been implemented at 9,000 schools in Mexico over the last decade and has now spread to Singapore, Thailand, and San Diego. The good news is that thanks to support from donors like you, we have launched the Tutorial Relationships pilot program at seven vulnerable schools.

We invite you to see firsthand the positive impact that our Tutorial Networks pilot program is having in the Araucanía region (Chile’s poorest) via this short video.

 https://vimeo.com/145874907

We invite you to follow along on Educación 2020’s social media platforms and website as the pilot programs expands!

Thank you again for your support!

All the best,

The Educación 2020 Team

Dear friends and colleagues, how are you?

We´re happy because we came on a key issue in Chile: technical education (both formal and vocational). This new initiative, which is on the site www.mejoralatecnica.cl seeks to be the first collaborative platform to build a public policy proposal for technical education in Chile.

Everyone is invited to participate from anywhere in the world!

For a context, in Chile, 41% of students in higher education are professional technicians, however, they only get 22% of the total budget for tertiary education. Visualize and improve technical education is a great challenge that invites Education 2020 to take over the campaign through # MejoraLaTécnica.

Technical Education is essential for the development of the country and people, so it is essential to have a quality technical education that promotes ongoing and integral training, innovative and creative people, whose critical thinking and social commitment is the engine construction of the country.

As dijho Patricio Carrasco, a researcher on the theme: "build a new Technical Education is a political and social priority for a country that wants to advance and be less unequal. It is necessary that we become aware of the importance of this type of education is not enough to say that it is important if we do nothing. So from Education 2020 we make this call to participate and contribute. "

That's why we launched the campaign # MejoraLaTécnica with the invitation to all citizens to register with the web site www.mejoralatecnica.cl to contribute their ideas and proposals, and to build together a new Technical Education for the country.

Hi! how are friends?

In recent times we have been busy raising proposals and spaces to be reviewing the progress of the Education Reform in Chile, all based on the proposals that guide our work and summarized in the Education Roadmap 2020.
That is why on May 21 (the day the President of Chile gives his public account to the nation) www.tenemosquehablar.cl raise the platform, where we exposed the main proposals of 2020 by educational level education (kindergarten, school , professional and higher technical), detailing their degrees of progress and explaining to the public why this proposal was advanced recently taken or abandoned straight.

Prior and during the day of the public accounts were raised from various social networking messages of our proposals and called #TenemosQueHablar, which in Chile is used to express the need for urgent conversation.

In the same context, a subject that we have taken very strongly is that of primary education, where we stressed its importance through publicaciónd of opinion columns "Preschool Education: What priority ought to be to reduce the gaps" our investigator Danilo Olivares and "President, we must speak of Early Childhood Education," the researcher Catherine Estevez.

Another important news for us is that we are moving to implement in Chile the methodology "Networks Tutoring", which will leave a group of professionals from the foundation to train in Mexico, in what will be the first experience in the country of this innovative methodology.

Finally, tell you that the Latin American Network for Education, where we participated, and is close to having committed a proposal for the regional campaign, which this year will be on early childhood topics. For more details we invite you to meet its official website www.reduca.al.net
Thank you for always being there to support us, we are seeing us in a next report

Dear friends,

We want to tell you that with your contribution and all of the citizens who have donated to our project, three really important milestones have happened these months.

First, we organized 3 days of painting and repairing - with the community- in three rural public schools. We achieved recover their classrooms and gave a new face to the schools. "We painted and helped with the design. It looks nice now, it’s clean", says Francisco Fica, a hopeful student of 8° grade, who painted intercultural details on the walls of his classroom.

Furthermore, we launched our first mobile App! It helps all chilean students in the application process to Higher Education. We have achieved over 10.000 downloads in just one month!

And finally, we have had a strong and important role in the discussion on education reform in Chile. Between november and january, we were invited - as experts- on 3 different occasions to the Parliament, to expose our ideas and proposals. It allowed contribute improvements to the project about inclusion in the chilean education system.

Because of you, we can continue doing our work, in order to allowing that all chilean girls and boys have an inclusive and quality education. Thank you for your support!

Queridos amigos y amigas,
