CURRENT PROGRESS OF THE PROJECT

The Mobile School Screening project team of this hospital continued their efforts to find out refractive errors among the school going children. The project team’s efforts to find out refractive errors at a very early stage is really appreciable. This time maximum schools were covered at the out skirts of Peshawar and specially the schools in small villages / towns. This hospital continued establishing free eye camps, so that eye care facilities are provided to the poor people at their door step. During free eye camps, special attention was given to women and children. The free eye camp team visited following villages / town.

The Mobile Schools Screening Project Team was very successful in teacher’s training of various schools and also screened 98001 schools going children and issued spectacles to 5218 students free of cost. During the period 208 students were referred to various hospitals for further treatment. This hospital team provided free medicines worth of 19250 US dollars to poor patients. The team issued spectacles to 5218 students free of cost, worth of 1445 US dollars. This Hospital also performed 925 cataract surgeries free of cost.

The Mobile School Screening project team of this hospital worked with zeal and dedication and visited various government schools, to find the refractive errors among the students. The Mobile School Screening team during this period covered maximum girls schools, but it was found out that ratio of refractive error in girl students was less as compare to boys students.

Free Eye Camps were also established in far flung area of Peshawar so that eye care facilities are provide to the poor people at their door step. Following city / towns were given preference to establish eye camps and visit to schools for students.

Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital celebrated world sight day awareness Raising Seminar in which 40000/- school going children screened for refractive errors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On World Sight Day Awareness Raising Seminar, school children and teachers were invited. All those school teachers who helped Mobile School Screening team to find out refractive errors among the students were given souvenir / certificates. During visit various schools, the project team screened 3140 students and issued spectacles to 250 students free of cost. Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital provided free medicines worth of 16290 US dollars and glasses worth of 5265 US dollars to the patients during free eye camps and also performed 1230 cataract surgeries free of cost. Khyber Eye Foundation, Hospital has acquired latest equipment for Glocoma patients, so that at a very early stage. Glaucoma in the patients can be detected at a very early stage.
