This project will introduce arts and culture programs to learners who have always been deprived of such programs and as a result have ended up engaging in activities that are detrimental to their well being and their futures. Activities like drug and substance abuse.
There are huge disparities in resources made available to children who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and the result has been an ever escalating drug problem in our community schools, both at high school and even primary school levels. Schools have become playgrounds for dealers and users alike and we believe that the only way to solve the problem is by eradicating drug demand in schools. This can only be done through the use of programs that will replace drug use.
This project- the first of its kind- will create a platform for learners to show case their talents and to have clean fun in a safe environment. By giving children from such communities the chance to shine and grow their self esteem we will also be replacing the void and boredom they have been filling with bad behavior and drug and substance abuse. We cannot tell children to say No to drugs if we do not provide better alternatives. This project is an example of a such an alternative.
The high , High School drop out rates will improve and dramatically so because schools will once again become the safe places of learning they should always have been. Children who once felt despondent about their lives and futures will see good flourishing from their communities and this good will actually be them blossoming and nurturing their their talents and potential. They will be that "something" their communities can to be proud of!
