Kibera Worldwide is multimedia storytelling project led by youths from Carolina for Kibera. Using digital cameras, youth tell stories of their communities while learning essential tech skills.
Over the past couple of months, Kibera Worldwide has been working closely with the various programs in Carolina for Kibera as well as the wider Kibera community. Being the voice of the youth in Kibera, it has taken in its stride to ensure full coverage of everything that goes on in the organization and the community at large. The past months have seen the team update blogs about important events from community meetings to the 10th Anniversary celebrations of Carolina for Kibera. The team also worked alongside the Producers of CFK documentary chasing the Mad Lion to give useful feedback and supporting the final interviews and shoots that will for part of the documentary.
Over the next couple of months, the organization will facilitate targeted training as it assists Kibera Worldwide to operate in a more effective way. The process will entail the reorganizing functions within the program to allow the utilization of the different skills of the team members.
It is also worth noting that a few team members have since joined media schools for advanced training in journalism and media studies. This will come in handy as the demand for their products grows.
