The Kaduna State Government of Nigeria recently passed into law compulsory free education for girls. While this has increased enrollment, there was no provision for school supplies and learning materials. This has made it difficult for the community girls to acquire proper education; the girls have to trek for 4km barefoot to school with no writing materials and textbooks. To worsen the situation, the girls cannot study at home the little they have learnt from school due to lack electricity.

Women Connect Initiative plans to provide materials such as school shoes, bags, writing materials, textbooks and reading lamps that will enable these girls acquire the needed education they ought to have for a better and brighter future.

Long-Term Impact

The project will equip 200 rural girls in Kudan community in Nigeria with learning and reading materials enabling them to acquire good and quality education.
