Food prices are rising around the world and D.R.Congo is no exception. With its low level of food production DRC is reliant on imports. Fuel cost increases have already added to food prices in DRC shops. The price of flour is now rapidly increasing due to shortages of flour in neighbouring Zambia. Zambia is reducing sales to DRC leading to food shortages, with those in need struggling to afford the basics. Kimbilio is seeing increased numbers of children at the day centre. Please help.
The cost of food is increasing in D.R.Congo due to inflation on fuel and a shortage of flour in Zambia. Zambia is reducing sales of flour to D.R.Congo leading to prohibitive costs for the local Congolese population who are in desperate need. This is leading to an increase on children on the streets of Lubumbashi.
Donations to this project will enable Kimbilio to feed more children who rely on Kimbilio for their daily food and sustenance. Kimbilio will be able to continue to provide food to the hundreds of children we already support each week through our outreach day centre, homes and school.
By ensuring these children are fed, Kimbilio will prevent children from having to engage in hard manual labour or theft to obtain food. By providing food to school pupils, Kimbilio children will be able to concentrate, focus and learn, providing them with a more positive and hopeful future. Lubumbashi society will have young people who are more engaged and integrated, in the long term benefiting social cohesion and lessen opportunities for children to be exploited and involved in conflict.
