He touched the pants of the field staff and asked him, "Can I wear a pant if I study?"Kaja Moideen's question shattered the staff and he hugged the boy and said, "Yes, you can my boy". This happened when the field staff of New Life went in search of the children who were working.
Kaja Moideen was working in a Eversilver Factory as a coolie. His father Afrose Khan is a drunkard. He works in a tiffin stall as a parotta (kind of roti) master and earns Rs.200/- per day. Whatever he earns is spent on drinks and his wife Asina could not feed her three children. So she started working in a night tiffin stall and is earning Rs.100/- per day. This too was not sufficient and hence Kaja Moideen was forced to work as a coolie in the Eversilver Factory, dropping from school while he was studying in sixth standard. He was earning Rs.100/- per day.
When the field staff knew about Kaja Moideen's background, he approached the mother and convinced her to stop sending the boy to the factory. It took many days to convince her. It was because of the boy's interest in studies and the continuous visits of our staff the mother accepted to send the boy to the special school run by us in Kaja Pettai.
Kaja Moideen wants to become a doctor. He is fond of clothes. But as on date, the family could not afford to buy him good clothes. He comes to the special school wearing a lungi (a garment worn around the waist ). He wants to study well, and earn and buy good pants.
His dream can come true with support from donors like you. At this moment we thank you for helping us continue the project and supporting our cause. Kindly do support us continuously and spread words about the work we do to your friends and relatives too. This will help us reach more children like Kaja Moideen.
