Korku tribe children in Madhya Pradesh of India are one of the worst victims of malnutrition. Nearly 50% children are stunted and that shows the chronic hunger among them. We want to add more nutrition to their daily diets . We will add Millet, eggs, milk and greens into their diets for next six months. 1000 Severely Malnourished children will be assisted. Along with this we will also help their mothers to raise homestead nutrition gardens and rear free range chickens and grow Millet .
Korku is a lesser known and nutritionally vulnerable tribe found in Central India alone. It has been known for high incidence of malnutrition and deaths among their U5 children. As nearly half of their children are stunted , it shows that hunger has become chronic among them. They are unable to get adequate protein and essential microelectronics. In this nutritional emergency we want to enrich their diets and save their lives.
It will identify 1000 severely malnourished children below 5 years and provide them Millet, eggs, vegetables and Milk for six months. The feeding will be done at the community. The mothers will be counselled fro better child acre and feeding and trained to grow backyard nutrition gardens and raise free range chickens.
It will reduce the malnutrition incidence with adequate food diversity in families' plates. 1000 children will recover and grow to their full potential.
