Zimbabwe and Africa in general face critical problems in water, energy, healthcare, food security, sustainable use of land, mineral and natural resources. Our educational system is often rigid, with emphasis on memorization and rote learning. Student learning is often passive. Creatives and those with learning differences are not catered to in the traditional educational system. Yet solutions will require a new cadre of leaders and scientists who can think outside the box and innovate.
Discovereum is an exhibit based, multi-sensory, multi-media children's museum promoting self-directed learning for families, students, teachers and schools. Exhibits in the fields of science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics and innovation are tied together with interactive activities that create a conducive environment for life-long learning. Creativity, imagination, critical thinking, and problem solving are among the top aptitudes fostered through our exhibits and activities.
Develop future leaders, thinkers, problems solvers, inventors and makers by creating a space where young people are free to be curious, to learn, to create, to collaborate, to assemble, to experiment, fail and try again. Up to 100,000 children will broaden their horizons, scope of reference, potential career options, and worldview. In our country it is unique to have a space that is multicultural, multiethnic and multigenerational. Foster a thriving, diverse and tolerant community.
