Summary

Encouraging tree planting and effective management of natural resources whilst enhancing their livelihood in Reforestation, afforestation, use of alternative energy of energy like bio gas, energy serving stove, Income generating activities, horticulture , village and Community banking. to rid them of ,Charcoal ,brick making, reduce over dependency in forest product due to poverty, land degradation,drying of water sources, hence low production, deterioration of biodiversity ,forest encroaching.

Challenge

High rate of deforestation, increased pressure on forest land and decreased food production, local people struggle to make income. Massive deforestation has become critical environmental crisis.Forest cover is declined from 30% bin the 60's to 2 percent at present. this is due to logging for fuel wood, construction wood,charcoal,carving,Clearing for new human settlements and agriculture, all river and water catchment areas has encroached and contaminated by insecticides to give way for food

Solution

Initiate Conservation activities , village environmental committees, forest management, training and establish policies and by laws to initiate land use plan, training and engage social institutions to plant trees ,establish a demonstration tree seedling area, purchase a land as forest reserve that is protected and encourage each village to reserve on,find an alternative energy source like bio gas and energy efficient stove, establish other income generating activities ,village Community ban

Long-Term Impact

500 household in Rorya district are trained and keep tree seedling and protect environment, Schools shall provide Teachers who shall manege the environmental clubs and mentor the pioneers who propagate the idea even after they graduate,every year there shall be soccer and games competition and awards given to the best team that has mobilized tree planting, in each community there shall be a own resource person who work as mobilizer, a by law established to each village to protect forest and en
