Online child sexual abuse is one main increasing challenge face children in West Bank as around 166 complaints monthly registered in cybercrime unit in police.68% of Palestinians use internet, around 30% of them are under 18. Local society, caregivers, & children don't aware of the real size of this problem and what they should do as preventive and responsive actions. Too weak interventions conducted to solve this issue. No awareness programs, studies, or statistics to tackle it.
We employ awareness campaign by working with CBOs to target 450 children and caregivers in 5 marginalized areas in West Bank to provide them with needed knowledge through awareness sessions to teach them protection mechanisms from to online child sexual abuse including preventive and responsive actions, where to go,..etc, conducting professional manual for caregivers as counselors, NGOs, police..etc, & reaching and educating public through media as 2video messages, & 2vox-pops videos.
PCDCR through past4 years educates 17357caregivers & 16595children on child sexual abuse protection. Under this project 225caregivers influenced by awareness sessions will protect their children better from online child sexual abuse(OCSA) & 225children exposed to awareness sessions will be able to defend themselves from OCSA & follow right mechanisms.Palestinian community will openly fight against OCSA through caregivers' manual & media productions. Thus, online child sexual abuse will be reduced
