Context of the project:

Teenage mothers in the developing countries are often denied some opportunities and are facing a lot of challenges. Early maternity is one of barriers to education and puts them at risk of trafficking, poverty and exploitation. The health is affected for both. The eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, in post conflict has many teenage mothers out of school.

Summary of our activities to solve this problem

This project is giving educational opportunities for 245 teenage mothers to go back to school for some and develop some vocational training skills to others. It provides health information to protect themselves and their babies. The program is a hope to reinforce economic and psychosocial empowerment. They are able to improve their own lives, the lives of their kids and able to make decisions about their futures, and are able to protect themselves from trafficking, sexual exploitation and HIV.

Story about two beneficiaries: a mother and her daughter:

My name is Kahindo. I got pregnant and stopped the school. I was chased from my uncle where I was lived since lost my parents were killed in the war. My life had become so hard. Three times, I tried to commit suicide, as my life was nonsense. Later, I was transferred to Children’s Voice center. There, I was helped and was happy to join many girls with same problem. My life was rebuilt. After training, now I work in sewing workshop. I can finish one dress per day and get 5 or 8$us per day. Diana, my daughter is beautiful, I love her. My dream is to get a good life for me and to her and to educate her.”

 Thanks

We thank our donors via GlobalGiving for generous donation to girls’ education especially teens with babies.

  Conclusion

This a fantastic project to improve education to many teenage mothers and empower, to protect them from traffic and sexual exploitation. It is reducing poverty.
