Mentoring Young girls from Arid Areas

By Lucy Ndungu | Project leader

girls from Olooseos primary school

Young girls  from the Arid areas are at risk of early marriages,Female Genetal Mutilation, cultural practices of cattle  rustling and nomadic life. This affects their education and are not able to finish their Education. You will find that the girl will start school at an early age  4 to 5 years and drop off at  year 7 or 8.This bring about a povery cycle that affects all generations from those communities.

In this regards, in partnership with the chief and the schools heads  of the  maasai communitty,Hope forTeenage Mothers  has come up with a mentorship program for girls that will start at year 6 and continue with the girls until they finish school/college.These girls will be encouraged to become the peer mentors on other young girls. This will break the recyling culture of poor  for girls education in the community.

Our organization is collecting story books and reading materials to set up a library and a computer lab in 2 schools where the girls are schooling and meeting .These libraries will be shared by the community and other students from other schools. The names of the schools are;Olooseos primary school and Ewuaso secondary school.

We welcome good ambassadors and volunteers to collect for  books and old computers for stocking this library. The girls are ready to study.

You can contact uson info@hopeforteenagemothers.org for any details .

Thank you for our kind support.
