Empower 200 Students to Own their Economic Success

by Junior Achievement of Greater Miami

Miami Dade County Public School students comprise one of the most ethnically and racially diverse populations in the U.S. This student population is also one of the poorest nationally, with one out of three students living at or below poverty level. Our volunteer-delivered, K-12 programs foster work-readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy skills, and use experiential learning to inspire kids to dream big and reach their potential.

For many families in Miami, economic challenges are a harsh reality. As a result, parents with low to moderate incomes often are not able to model and reinforce economic success factors for their children. Youngsters from these economically disadvantaged homes can especially benefit from positive adult role models and focused programming that teaches the value of education and an understanding of the workforce expectations and needs.

Junior Achievement benefits students by using hands-on experiences to help young people understand the economics of life. In partnership with business and educators, JA brings the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential. As a result, students become better informed citizens, consumers, employees, and employers.

Long-Term Impact

Junior Achievement programs show students the value of education and offer educators and business volunteers ways to connect. Building on the initial and intermediate outcomes, Junior Achievement's programs help students become better informed and prepared citizens, consumers, employees, and employers. JA is helping young people develop: Economic knowledge and understanding through experiential, hands-on learning. The desire to stay in school and develop their abilities and skills.
