Challenge

There is a link between poverty, alcohol consumption and domestic abuse. In patriarchal indian households, women are often the target of violence. Eventhough children are not directly abused, the money which could be used for their education and care is misappropriated on drugs or alcohol. The project provides income generating skills and employment opportunities to women either victims of domestic violence, spouses of drug users or women who care for someone living with HIV or other diseases.

Solution

By selling food at friendly price, women bring money home and food security in the community. They are also able to afford education and care to their kids, which leads to increase their self-esteem, empowerment feelings and ability to prevent abuse.

Long-Term Impact

We will reach 100 more women to develop their entrepreneurship and empowerment to allow them to save money and access to a bank account and loans and finally to reach financial independance to offer a proper livelihood to their family.
