Empowering HIV positive women to form cooperatives

Human Rights First Rwanda Association organized a two day workshop from the 2nd to 3rd July in Kamonyi District with Women who are HIV positive. The training dwelt on the advantages of forming cooperatives.

The women were informed of the benefits of working together in cooperatives, this are in terms of selling their produce to larger markets and securing loans from lending institutions.

The beneficiary women  after  workshop  were happy to know that they could secure loans easily through cooperatives because previously it was hard for them to approach lending institutions indvidually  because of stigma in society associated with being HIV positive. Hence this would also boost their livelihoods.
