Since inception, we have been supporting orphaned and vulnerable children characterized by a number of disabled children from humble and poor families. We have been supporting over 567 children with education support in school going materials, scholarship and supporting school centers of disabled persons with feeding program- food baskets. Our situational assessment reports states that 20 disabled children will find it hard to access quality education (fees, food and learning materials).
At the state, Kenya has undergone a general election that is characterized with violence at different parts of the nation. Our beneficiaries including the disabled children do study at different schools across the nation and this has resulted to us finding convenient learning centers near their homes to pursue with the education. We target to support 20 disabled children from a list of 157 to attend nearby schools due to their high state of vulnerability. This is supported by our report analysis
The targeted disabled children will attend nearby learning centers that will provide same and better education as well as social engagement and interaction from their family members to ensure better care. The project is to strengthen psychological and education package hence ensuring that the disabled children are in good monitoring state by us and their care givers in terms of retention in school. The project will also ensure progressive access to education.
The project has a strategic performance monitoring plan that will ensure sustainable and scalable impact at beneficiary and community level. We anticipate 20 families and their environs will benefit directly and indirectly as education costs will reduce due to nearness in access to learning centers, strengthen family cohesion with love, support community ownership and ensure better livelihood. The project will act as a pilot to other stakeholders to implement the positive outcome and impacts.
