Every day news reports rape, sexual assaults, brutal killing of girls. From this painful situation, ANKUR GIRLS has started a movement to defend girls and young women from violence. 1800 girls (age 12-21) from 50 villages will be trained on leadership, laws protecting women and girls' rights, self-defence, sexuality and reproductive health. Trained girls will be organized to raise voice against violence to stop crime on girls and women.
1348 rape cases, 478 dowry-related atrocities, 450 witch hunting (DAAINE) crime registered in 2018 in Jharkhand. 39000 girls are trafficked every year, 35.8% of girls and women experience physical violence, 80% of women suffer domestic violence and 2000 cases in registered in 2017. Girls are insecure even in their own home, fear of their own male relatives. Six out of 10 girls are forced to drop school to become a child bride. Only 5% continue degree courses in universities.
Formation and training of ANKUR GIRLS in 50 villages to organize them to defend themselves from all forms and manifestations of violence and exploitations. Building confidence through training on laws protecting girls rights, sexuality and reproductive health, career guidance, self-defence mechanism, involving them in campaign and rallies to build a society free from violence. To provide medical and legal help to victims and pressurize administration to take immediate actions on perpetrators.
1. 1800 girls are empowered to stop rapes, violence, trafficking, and atrocities and to eliminate discriminations and exploitations. 2. Girls experience freedom, confidence, safe, healthy and lifetime successful. 3. 2500 menfolk change their attitude, come forward to stand against the criminal activities of perpetrators in defending innocent girls and women. 4. A conducive environment is created for girls physical, mental, rational, emotional, spiritual growth to choose career and destiny.
